Friday Prayer
Friday prayer (Jumu'ah) is an obligatory weekly act of worship for every adult Muslim. It is performed at midday on Friday and consists of a sermon (khotba) followed by two units of prayer.
"O you who believe! When the call to prayer is made on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave off your trading. That is better for you, if you only knew." (Quran 62:9)
Friday prayer consists of two parts: the imam delivers a sermon (khotba) — containing reminders, guidance, and supplication — followed by two units of congregational prayer performed together.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "The best day on which the sun rises is Friday." It is a day of gathering, remembrance, and reflection for the Muslim community.
